FirstEnergy Recognizes Alcan Cable for its Emergency Response Efforts
10/27/2008
Alcan Cable was recognized by Akron, Ohio-based FirstEnergy Corp. for its emergency response efforts following the high wind storms spawned from Hurricane Ike in September. FirstEnergy’s seven electric utility operating companies comprise the nation’s fifth largest investor-owned electric system. As a long term cable supplier to FirstEnergy, Alcan Cable provided bare transmission and overhead service cable to support the utility’s extensive power restoration efforts. Utilizing the company’s emergency response procedures, Alcan Cable customer service, sales, operations, shipping and manufacturing personnel quickly responded to the immediate needs of the customer by delivering the required cable to the storm-damaged locations within days of the storm.
“The strategic partnership between Alcan Cable and FirstEnergy resulted in a well coordinated response from employees at both companies,” said Steve Waller, Director of Utility Sales, North America.
