Alcan Type SE Style U is designed for above-ground service entrance use, as well as interior wiring. The cable meets the requirements of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., Standard #854, and is approved for use in accordance with the recommendations of the National Electrical Code as Type SE. STABILOY® alloy conductor is recognized by ASTM in Standards B 800 and B 801.
XHHW-2 conductors are phase identified. One insulated conductor has a single longitudinal red stripe. One insulated conductor is black. The bare conductor strands are helically wound about the two paralleled insulated conductors. A glass-reinforced tape is applied over the conductors. A polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket, free of the heavy metals lead and cadmium, is extruded over the subassembly.
