Goals & Targets

Maintaining a healthy ecological balance is crucial to the development of healthy businesses and communities. While we believe that Alcan Cable is making major improvements on its path to net neutrality, we recognize that there is always room for growth. Because of this, we set clear goals by which we can measure our successes and determine our weaknesses. Our targets include:

Environmental Goals

• Alcan Cable will strive to achieve a 5% year-over-year improvement in reducing the use of hazardous chemicals, substituting with environmentally friendly materials.
• Alcan Cable will actively work to reduce consumption of natural gas at LaPointe by 20% by the year 2015.
• We seek to integrate goals associated with climate change into our sustainability initiatives.

Social Goals

• In order to benchmark internal knowledge of our initiatives, Alcan Cable will aim to measure employee involvement and awareness of sustainability programs.
• We will expand the scope of our social initiatives in order to make an even greater impact on the community’s awareness of Environmental Health and Safety and ecological issues.

Economic Goals

• Through expanded use of MASTERPAK®, Alcan Cable can reduce the waste to landfills and number of trees harvested.
• We are currently seeking to develop guidelines for responsible product use and measure the impact of these guidelines on our customers.
• Through our commitment to LEAN technologies, we will strive and eliminate waste in all forms throughout our business.
