Alcan Cable Supports 26th Annual MACC/Bluegrass Classic in Columbus, Ohio 6/22/2012
On July 18 – 21, 2012, a very special musical event will be held at Hoover Y-Park in Columbus, Ohio – The 26th Annual MACC/Bluegrass Classic – to benefit children with life threatening illnesses. Proceeds from the festival will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Musicians Against Childhood Cancer® (MACC) was founded in 2001 by Adkins Productions, a regional promoter of bluegrass concerts and festivals for 25 years. In 2000, The Adkins family experienced first hand the devastation childhood cancer causes the patient and the family when their daughter Mandy was diagnosed with an inoperable brain stem tumor. Tragically, Mandy lost her battle with cancer on November 25, 2000. Since then, the MACC has held annual musical events resulting in donations of over $642,000 to St. Jude and the Y.M.C.A. Each year famous bluegrass performers participate in this charitable event.
As a leading manufacturer of aluminum wire and cable to the Utility and Distribution electrical power markets, Alcan Cable is proud to support the Musicians Against Childhood Cancer organization by donating 600 volt underground cable for the distribution of power for the four day musical event. Alcan Cable’s local sales representative, Hawkins Sales, and electrical distributor, Loeb Electric, ensured delivery of the underground cable product to the event site.
“As a successful cable manufacturer for over 100 years, Alcan Cable has made and continues to make significant investments in the communities where we produce and sell our products,” said Jack Miller, President of Alcan Cable. “We feel it is our corporate responsibility to give back to local communities by supporting worthwhile charitable organizations like Musicians Against Childhood Cancer, who are dedicated to helping children and their families deal with this devastating disease.”
